Radio Sounders Show: Swede Dreams are Made of This

Sounders FC reaching the US Open Cup Final overshadows all the other good stuff going on in Sounderland (it’s like Sunderland with more Os). The show looks back on the league victory over Chicago Fire and hears from Sigi Schmid and Freddie Ljungberg. There’s the tape of the Ljungberg press conference after the game. Sounders fans had barely had time to celebrate that win and digest the consequences of inflicting another defeat on a close rival when a Cup Semi Final leapt upon them.
Sigi expresses how he views the achievement of two successive cup finals and gives an update on how Sounders can effect a quick turnaround as they fly out to Massachusetts to take on the Revs.
Playing the Revs gives the Radio Sounders show a chance to pick the brains of the expertest American about the sport they call soccer, Boston Herald’s Kyle McCarthy. If winningest is a word so can ‘expertest’ be. We got away with ‘hopecast’, didn’t we?
Kyle discusses the Passions of St Darrius, and how long it takes to be able to say Emmanuel ‘Osei’ without adding ‘can you see by the dawn’s early light’? Real heavyweight stuff. He also gives a rundown on the New England line up and makes a prediction which won’t win him any friends locally.
There’s a good deal of bonhomie this week with Freddie Ljungberg, Sigi Schmid, Tyson Wahl, the Brougham End and even the Sounders FC marketing department feeling some love. Not feeling any love are those who attribute views to other people without bothering to ask.
And we get Sigi to laugh.
