• Manager Eddie Howe cheered as Burnley end losing run
• Reading snatch dramatic late win at Ipswich

Hull 2-3 Burnley

A stoppage-time winner from Jay Rodriguez sealed a dramatic fightback as Burnley ended their four-match losing run – ruining Nick Barmby's first home game as Hull's caretaker manager. "We lost our composure completely after their first goal," said Barmby. "At 2-0 we were comfortable but we totally lost our shape. It's disappointing for me, but it's disappointing for everyone involved." Eddie Howe admitted his side's performance before David Edgar's first goal was the worst since he took over at Burnley. "It was a very strange game and sums up the beauty of football," he said. "When they scored we went into our shell, but after David's goal we suddenly looked like we were going to score every time we went forward. We look good up front – it's at the other end where work is required."

Ipswich 2-3 Reading

Reading were 2-1 down after 90 minutes, but still won the game – leaving their manager Brian McDermott "absolutely delighted … We didn't play well but we just finished it so strongly." After a forgettable first half, the game burst into life with Daryl Murphy's opener for Ipswich on 56 minutes. Reading equalised, but the home side looked to have secured the win via Josh Carson – until Alex Pearce and Noel Hunt scored in added time to leave the home crowd stunned. The Ipswich manager Paul Jewell said he felt "sick". "The goals we gave away from set pieces were beyond comprehension. We should have seen out the last two games, but confidence is so low at the moment. It's hard to see pluses at the moment, but we've got to get out of it. We've got to fight, scrap and try to turn things round."

And the rest

Brighton ground out a 2-1 home win over Coventry – leaving the visitors without an away win this season and with four defeats in their last five games. ■ Crystal Palace's lack of goals continued as they were held 0-0 at home by Millwall – Glenn Murray missing a first-half penalty. Palace have now failed to score in the last 485 minutes of league football. ■ Doncaster and Watford drew 0-0 – the home side's first clean sheet in 10 games. ■ Peterborough's manager, Darren Ferguson, hailed Paul Taylor's glorious goal that earned his side a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough. "It was a terrific goal from Paul on what hadn't been one of his best afternoons, and it was nothing more than we deserved. We're really starting to look like a solid Championship team." ■ Portsmouth were denied a win at home to Leicester by the away side's keeper Kasper Schmeichel – two stunning saves earning the Foxes a 1-1 draw. ■ And West Ham came from behind at Upton Park to secure a comfortable 3-1 win over Derby, with goals from Carlton Cole, Kevin Nolan and Mark Noble.
