The future of Moneybookers
Skrill is the new name for Moneybookers – our prefered eWallet. It is easier to get verified compared to Neteller and it only takes 2 minutes to create a new account. It is quite easy to use and they have lower fees.
When signing up you first enter your email, the password you wish, country of residence and your currency.
When this first step is done, you will receive receive an email, where you have to click on the link to confirm your email address. When this is done you fill out the remaining personal details like address, date of birth and phone number.
When finishing this step your account is actually ready and you are able to send money to friends or merchants. This is much easier than Neteller, where documents and a telephone call is needed before you really can benefit from Neteller’s services.
Your standard Skrill limit is quite low, so for each 90 days you will only be able to send €1000 (or currency equivalent) in total. This limit can become higher by confirming your identity. You do the verification steps by choosing “view limit” in the left side of the screen when being logged in. Then you are able to choose to do any of the following 3 steps:
1: Address verification – €5,000 added outgoing transaction limit in any 90 days.
You request a code to be sent to your registered postal address. The code that must be entered where you requested the verification.
Duration: 2-5 days
2: Bank account verification – €15,000 added outgoing transaction limit in any 90 days.
Register your bank account and Skrill will send you a very smal amount to your bank account. This amount (ie. 0.54) must be entered where you requested the verification.
Duration: 3-5 days
3: Credit / debit card verification – €5,000 added outgoing transaction limit in any 90 days.
You register your credit card and it will be charged a random verification amount between €1.01 and €2.99. When the money is debited from your card, you enter the exact amount in the “verify credit/debit card” and the amount debited will now be credited to your Skrill account.
